Decommissioned as a fishing boat, AMERICAN CHALLENGER was under tow from Puget Sound to Mexico for demolition when tug HUNTER (IMO 7726495) broke down on 5 March. The AC broke adrift. Stranded on rocks near Estero de San Antonio, Bodega Bay, c40m NW of San Francisco, California. Salvage seems unlikely. Both vessels lacked suitable insurance and were owned by Ships International Inc, Seattle
