Oh thanks Kyle for that informative response. The reason I ask, mainly because of her age and still being in service, I wrongly put it down to her being in long-term ownership. Good maintenance schedules etc rather like the Great Lakes vessels.

Far from it. COASTAL TRADER is her 7th name, originally launched as the CLARA for H. van Nood of Willemstad, Curacao, but renamed SAN JOSE before delivery. As the Cayman Islands-flag LAGO IZABAL, she became embroiled in legal action in the US, and must have been seized as a result and sold to US owners in 1986, likely how she obtained a Jones Act waiver. Coastal Transportation bought her from her previous US owners in 1997.
