Description:

Prompted by the sad news of her loss, here is P&O's Spirit of London leaving Southampton on her maiden voyage 11 November 1972.

Many later names represented on SS, but this is the only colour shot on site under her original name.

I hadn't realised they'd inflicted that awful logo on any of the passenger ships.
Just a pity the GCD corn hull didn't appear on at least the ex Orient ships during the great corporate vandalism exercise, it would have been ironically suitable.

Sad end (as so often with this vintage cruise liners) but this photo is a wonderful reminder!

I guess, if she didn't sink recently then how long we'll have to wait for you to share this great photo of her from her finest time? :D
The only thing I don't like about her design is the forecastle being way too long. Fine ship otherwise.
