The colour should be called V.S.O.P.

Hi Pieter, I was tempted to adjust the red a little (or a lot..) but considered that it really was that palid on the day; authenticity versus adapted.
In the 1970's and later, so many Japanese tankers appeared to have no deck or hull painting carried out between dry-dockings, and appeared badly rust-streaked & uncared for; even on ships that were less than 5 years old. Perhaps today's better paint products & application help preserve some of them. But not this one!

Rick, on my picture on the same day(and the same time...) I adjusted the red colour a little and it already looks a whole lot better. But this is a type of pale colour that the Japanese apperently like to use, and it does look a bit sloppy.
