Thanks, Luis, I put 1st of december as I was not sure about the excact date in december. But now I have checked some old magazines made by our company (Reksten). We arrived at Lisbon the 20 December, and set sail for Las Palmas on the 27th. So I think you are absolutely right about the 26th.

Very nice image of the cargo passenger mini liner FUNCHALENSE, the third of the same name. This photograph must have been taken on 26 December 1970 not December 1st. FUNCHALENSE sailed regularly from Lisbon every two saturdays at 9 AM with passengers, mail and general cargo returning from Funchal, Madeira Island, on Sundays. She alternated a regular with 1962 built sister ship MADEIRENSE (II). The pasenger liner seen outside the Rocha Passenger terminal is the FUNCHAL and the only possibility to have both ships on a December 1970 Saturday is 26 December 1970. FUNCHALENSE belonged to the old Empresa de Navegação Madeirense, now th oldest Portuguese shipping concern, set up in 1907 and still going strong as part of the Sousa Group of Madeira Islands. I have published a book on the Empresa de Navegação Madeirense first 100 years and this includes the complete history of FUNCHALENSE (III)and the other 35 ships owned by the Madeirense Group companies over the years.
