WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
29/11/2007 sailing from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
A former Spliethoff's vessel which had an unlucky life, being involved in several collisions during her life, ending up being wrecked in Far East Russia
Note the collapsed deck cranes which have been de-rigged and lashed to the deck.
In addition, just forward of No.1 crane base a large anchor can be seen lashed to the deck.
According to info from 'Sugarmadman' on another photo on Shipspotting, this was the cause:
"The location of the accident I do not know, but what I do know is that the ship had a blackout in some canal. There she had a collision with a container ship with a long bow.
The container vessel came from the front and knocked over crane No. 2 first, then No. 1 and finally broke off a part off the starboard bridgewing.
**The anchor from the container vessel broke of an was left on the deck of the Corn Diva. **
For steel repairs the ship sailed to Shipdock repair yard in Amsterdam; Netherlands."
