Description:

What is this? Looks like a burst of heavy machine gun fire fired at an angle , note marks.
If not, can any one give a more plausible explanation?

Then I hope that they paid up their insurance....it has got to be a mighty big key my friend.

Hi seaways, the darker grey colour to the left is part of the pennant number F84 which you can see in my other photos of the whole ship.

The darker grey colour to the left suggests a touch up of additional scrape marks or larger damage repairs incurred further aft and these indentations under scrutiny are more like minor damage from an over hanging object.perhaps the other vessels anchor flukes.

He..he.. rather more of steel worm type B.Clark..if not the fabled sea serpent so loved by maritime authors.

The location of these dents are just below the missile launcher ,just a metre or two forward of the pennant number, rather a long way from the anchor, so it could have been something else that was being hauled aboard in a rather choppy sea?
The vessel has a lot of dents singles along her hull, she looks like she has been hard worked lately and in need of a maintence.Any one knows where she was patrolling lately?

A wider view pictures would be nice, but this looks to me like hit-marks from a fluke of the anchor, typically when raising the anchor in swell weather or when the anchor is full of mud and crew lowers it into the water to flush it of and when the anchor touches the water the flukes hit the hull while the ship is already under way,,

Hello ,@Emmanuel.L

I think this happened during berthing with a pier or any obstruction on a pier.

I can't give an exact explanation, but as a veteran I have seen quite a few marks by machine gun fire - this looks diffefrent.

Also, note the broken piece of metal in the upper right corner which suggests that the ship hit something or was shit by something.

Best regards,

Michael.

To Administration....I asked the question if these are marks left by machine gun fire, if not then they were caused by something else such as a small collision , so a casualty is the theme. So if Administration are sure they are machine gun volley marks, please tell us how and where they were caused.Any help from the members is very welcome.
Regards and thanks.
