WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
From a secret underground shipbuilding facility, Samsung Heavy Industries has just revealed the first 21.000 TEU ship for OOCL.
I don't have any other idea - I haven't seen a trace of this project, then suddenly BOOM! there goes another ultra large container vessel... ;)
Her IMO number is marked on the superstructure, but it's not clear, so help is welcome.
*IMO added according to Equasis.org

Maersk said that the new EEE will be able to load 11 (eleven) high high-cubes on deck. I'm sure OOCL's stated capacity is based on twelve layers, or maybe even a ridiculous thirteen high (which will be non high-cubes then) behind the accommodation, I seem to recall I read that somewhere at the time they were ordered.
Jan for the moment you will be correct, but in the past they said that so many times. These days ten to eleven thousand teu ships are going to west-afriaca and south-america. Not that long ago that would have been perceived as completely impossible.
Cheers,
Roy

This one was assembled in a dry dock, out of sight from my usual spotting points, and the yard itself is definitely large enough to "hide" a vessel, even the huge one like this... :)

Thanks for the picture.
Equasis says she was launched december 24th. Maybe she was in a not easily visible location (must be), but then she's huge and hard to miss.
I see that her lashing bridges are now five high for to outer two rows contrary to 'normally' only the outer row.

Roy
