November 17 1970 the tanker was towed to Europort .In total, around 453,120 barrels of crude oil were pumped out of the ship's tanks. The ship was declared a total loss.
After being in port for about a year, the ship was towed to Hong Kong and repaired there. In 1972 it was rebuilt as Oriental Confidence. Renamed Oriental Confidence exploded a second time - this time with the loss of two more lives - and was finally scrapped in 1981.
