This was one of the first RO-RO ships built at Brazil as Global Africa. Because financial problems the construction stopped for 5 years.

Seems so Phil, it is always sad to see a hardworking vessel end her seagoing days under the scrap yards cutters.

She had been for sale since August last year for further trading. No takers. It seems that the broken engine was the final straw.

Yes, David, that is the latest news here, the STJERNEBORG which has been a regular visitor to the Malta Freeport at Marsaxlokk had recently entered Palumbo Shipyard , presumably after checking up her condition she was deemed as fit only for the scrap heap.

Reported "disabled". Departed Malta 29/5 in tow of ONYX (IMO 9752400) for Izmir, reportedly for demolition.
