Probably a problem with calibration of the injection valves, a bit to much fuel and bad combustion. Diesel :-)

I rather suspect that the black smoke is down to the engines and chief engineer, rather than to " cheap fuel"!

I had the same experience years ago at Portoferraio (Elba) with the MOBY LOVE (ex-ST. ELOI). Whole bay covered in smoke!

Great pic, Carsten! Dirty old smoker... Looks like cheap fuel!? But anyway we should be happy, that these wonderful oldies are still around. Thanks for the photos!
