Clive: You are right. You are in a minority. I would never sail in a ship with more than about 1,200 other passengers but I wouldn't be too bothered about the ship's looks. Being a Fred Olsen fan, I have never had that problem anyway.
I, too, have all-but given up cruising but that's because I've run out of new places I want to visit. Also, I may have to re-mortgage the house for the next one!! (LOL)

I know very well that I'm in a minority but I've always said that I would not sail on a ship that I did nor like the look of. That's why I have all-but given up taking cruises these days.

I think it might be the lower cost of the cruise resulting from economy of scale that attracts the passengers, rather than the looks of the ship

Understood vokstar! Others mention shopping trolleys. But the design attracts profitable passengers.
