Thanks Jim!
Always enjoyed a bit of adventurous shipspotting, especially in my teens. I climbed a wide variety of structures to get better shots, not sure either my head for heights or the port authorities could take it now though :-)

Thanks Derek, I was certainly 'on' the water... I stealthily hired a very small boat. But unfortunately at the time it was blowing hard and there was quite a swell. And my wife reckoned that if we went out any further we'd be 'in' the water so I took it that that meant we should turn back, much to the kids' disappointment  Ironically, once we got back on shore the weather calmed right down.
Can't win them all :-(

John J.

Looks like you were in the water when you took this one John. Snorkel and flippers for a stealthy approach! maybe we will have to in the future!! :-P

Hi Mike,
thanks for the comment, she was moored quite a way off shore so was quite hard to get close to so this was all I could do. Grotty? Mmmm, compared to the passenger ships of a few decades ago definitely. By todays standards? Well they are mostly like that aren't they, we have to lower our aesthetic expectations and enjoy the odd couple of decent looking ones that are built :-)
Cheers
John J.
