This was one of four scheduled calls by United States at Cobh in 1968 (two each, westbound and eastbound). That followed four calls in 1967 and two in 1966. Before then, it was the America that represented the US Lines, which called at Cobh about 30 times in each of 1963 and 1964.

I never knew that the United States ever visited Cobh!

Was it a one off call as the only ports in Europe that she called at whilst on the transatlantic from New York were Bremerhaven, Le Havre, Southampton (she had called at Cherbourg on two occasions when strikes at Le Havre took place)
