I suppose she's going or back to/from Grand Haven Michigan the place where the first Escanaba was based prior WWII - During the war she was used as convoy duty in the Atlantic and had been struck in 1943 by a german torpedo and sank instantly lost - 101 men were lost with only two survivors - almost all crew members came from Grand Haven Michigan - Today some time during summer the actual Escanaba comes to the Great Lakes to visit Grand Haven. this year is the 75 anniversary, may be special memorial service ? Yes off course the retractable hangar is able to receive a HH65 Dolphin. Nice picture, I like this cutter I used to sail aboard her for some days in the 90's

A fine photograph, superb side profile with amazing clarity on Full Screen. Is that hangar retractable because the flight deck, from this angle, doesn't look large enough to take a chopper.

I am wondering if this ship gets the same protection given to USS JASON DUNHAM DDG109 last year. I saw the arrival of the ESCANABA on the Port de Québec webcam and notice some canadian Coast Guard activities out of the Bassin Louise but was unable to see where they were going.
