Description:
One of 4 sisterships built 1948-49 in Denmark. at Elsinore and Frederikshavn
(SAMOS'48, RHODOS'48 and LEMNOS'49 at Elsinore and MELOS'49 at Frederikshavn)
Both yards owned 100% by D-F-D-S.at that time.
The vessels were built for the N.Europe Mediterranean sevice. A service they
maintained during their entire carreer.

All 4 sold in 1968 to T.Gargour & Fils, Beirut the local agent for D-F-D-S.
(Associated Levant Lines) with new names.
SAMOS = BAALBECK, RHODOS = BEYROUTH, ren. BEKAA, LEMNOS = BEITEDDINE
MELOS = BOUAR
In 1978-79 they all teminated their career in A.S.L.
BAALBECK 1978 Dec.1 Sprang a leak while laid on the Roads of Beirut
BEKAA 1977 Nov.11 Arrived at San Esteban de Pravia for demolition.
BEITEDDINE 1973 Sep.5 Grounded in Bejaia Roads after on fire after an
engine room explosion voy. Hamburg - Beirut Gen.Cargo.
BOUSAR 1978 NOURAN Nouran Shipping Co.(T. Gargour & Fils), Beirut
1981 Apr.1981 Arrived at Gadani Beach for demolition.
As you can see the all 4 sisters had more or less, same hisory, but
no. 3 LEMNOS was the unlucky one, she had in 1953 Dec.24 a collision
with BABITONGA off Terneuzen in heavy mist and had to be grounded with
a sumerged foreship. but was salved and repaired at Aalborg. She also
ended her life 4 years earlier than the rest due to an accident.
