This unit was built in the shipyards of Asmar Talcahuano in the year 1994, and was baptized as PSG Aspirante Morel (2nd) and within their twelve years of service to the institution entrusted with the task of patrolling, surveillance and control of territorial waters; logistic support to units of task and isolated areas; maintenance to the maritime signalling and control and combat pollution.
Due to the assigned tasks, to ensure the safety in navigation and the safeguarding of human life in the sea and support for the area, from the Gulf of Penas to Puerto Montt, her Home Port. This unit has been recognized by the citizens of this vast area.
After a period of repairs and transformations in the shipyards of Asmar Talcahuano, counting from 19 December 2006 she was renamed to Cirujano Videla ('Surgeon Videla'), in recognition of the old eponymous unit, who served 34 years in this jurisdiction, until the year 1998. This type of vessel enables the transformation as a service unit General multipurpose, counts with the conditions for the navigation in the area and the ability to transport the equipment necessary to provide medical and dental care to the residents of this area.
She bears the name of the 1st surgeon of the schooner 'Virjen de Covadonga', Pedro Segundo Regalado Videla Ordenes, who died in the battle of Punta Gruesa, on May 21, 1879.
