The containership SEA PIONEER is seen passing Porto Corsini inbound for Ravenna on 8th August 2002.

Sold by Maersk with charter back in May 2002 to Porter Shipping S.A., Marshall Islands, she was managed by Target Marine of Piraeus.

Her main cargo section was built in 1963 by Blohm & Voss to create the American containership LOS ANGELES (IMO 5212426) out of the tanker ESSO BETHLEHEM (ex ESSO ALBANY of 1941).

The forward and aft sections were constructed, and the ship rebuilt, by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at Kobe in 1978 and delivered as SEA-LAND PIONEER. She took the name SEA PIONEER in 1989.
