Description:

The tug ACORN was built in 1934 by Rowhedge Iron Works as yard no.474 for the War Department and named CRYSTAL II. She was used to supply the various forts in the Thames & Medway. ON 305511. 32grt 56'x12'7".
Sold in 1956 to R L Baker, Canvey Island.
Sold 1963 R.Lapthorn & Co.Ltd. as HOOLIGAN, registered at Rochester.
In 1970 to The New Medway Steam Packet Co.Ltd (part of P&O) as ACORN and in 1977 sold with the yard to Acorn Shipyard Ltd.
Scrapped 1990 on site.

UNION JUPITER is on the slipway at the Acorn Shipyard. She was built in 1977 by van Rossum at Dreumel as yard no.816. IMO 7615610. Still in service in 2019 as a bunkering tanker MIUS at Astrakhan.
