Description:

31/12/1976, on a bitterly cold day at Europort, Netherlands.

Joining the ship for the first time (I sailed on her twice) for a less than Happy New Year ;-)

What was supposed to be, according to the company, a 'quick five day tank cleaning trip' down to Lisbon for drydocking at Lisnave, but it turned into 31 days of 6 hrs on, 6 hrs off, tank cleaning and gas-freeing.
I believe we held the dubious distinction of 'world's longest tank- cleaning' session. 😁

It was a tedious job due to a) the cold Atlantic weather as we slow steamed in circles way off Lisbon and b) huge quantities of oily sandy sludge deposits in every cargo tank, accumulated from the previous Saudi crude cargo.

Keel laid on 19/04/1974, launched on 05/07/1975 & delivered to Shell Tankers (UK) Ltd. on 17/11/1975 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast, Northern Ireland (1695)
161,632 g.t. & 317,996 dwt., as 'Lampas'.
Arrived at Chittagong, Bangladesh on 06/12/1998 for demolition.
