Description:

History lovers among us would remember how the mighty "Tirpitz" tried to hide from the Allied bombers in a Norwegian fjord, only to be found and destroyed...
I remembered this story as whoever who was building this LNG bunkering tanker decided to send her to be outfitted at an obscure company ("EK Heavy Industries") not so far away from Masan, thinking that she'd go unnoticed.
Until I happened to drive by... :)
BTW, the interwebs are silent about her name and her IMO number...

Edit: this is actually EK Heavy Industries newbuilding, hull No. 10. I had no idea that this company was building ships.

LNG bunkering tanker, constructed with the assistance of the South Korean government (she's to be operated by "Korea Research Ships"). More and more ships built in South Korea are LNG powered, but there are obvious limits on the quantity of LNG fuel that can be carried by a tanker truck (and a safety concern, too!) so, the obvious solution would be constructing small tanker ships to provide LNG fuel.

Cheers

Vlad

Care to share the function of this ship ? Simply an LNG carrier ?
