Description:

The 1962 Osaka built MAR DEL NORTE, owned by La Naviera Linea Argentina de Nav. Maritima y Fluvial S.A. of Buenos Aires, is seen passing Rozenburg outbound from Rotterdam for South America on 5th June 1974.

MAR DEL NORTE was broken up at Ramallo, Argentina, during August 1986.

One of the first ever specialised log carriers to be built, spent most of her Inui years in the New Zealand trade that was then, all sold to Japan. Inui were approached in 1960 to introduce their expertise, as the cargo ships supplied by other carriers were unsatisfactory to handle "the wall of wood" coming on stream. Nice shot Malcolm and good to see one of our old timers.
