Description:

Further to the last post. The port side of the superstructure was severely fire damaged but the starboard side was relatively untouched. The bars across the port lights seem to have been a security thing welded in place long before the ship was burnt. The fire was intense up the center front of the bridge and destroyed the railing ,on the deck above but the outer portions were untouched. Access doors to the superstructure on both port and starboard side were jammed but access was through a door at the rear of the superstructure. Access to the engine room was via here but it was dark and the engine room appeared to be flooded. Everything seemed to be still there as there was cutlery in the fire damaged galley. There was no access to the bridge area as it was to fire damaged. All in all it seemed like there had been a explosion and fire in the number two hold possibly during removal of the cargo as there was remains of fire fighting hoses on deck.

Yes, Well the clothes were the only things unless we went way back to the Australian R&R center.. Besides they were only cheap street sales as we weren't expecting to spend much time in civvy clothes.. Anyway, by the time we had negotiated the anchor chain, the clothes were beyond redemption. More worried about the camera gear getting damaged dragging thins through hawser,, We did plan to go back with ropes and lighting equipment, but we got called back for a ready reaction operation, and never seemed to get back there.
