Description:

Cable ferries of the Töftö-Line at the ferry bridge of the island Töftö - Ålands - 09.07.2022

Please note:

Both two cable ferries are named with "TÖFTÖ".
Why this is possible? I only found one MMSI on MarineTraffic.
Does anyone has an answer? - Maybe because they are cable ferries, which cannot navigate free?

Thanks for your hints.

Hi Marc,
from various Swedish sites I understand that only the ferry on the left (100 tons) is normally in operation, the smaller one (60 tons) is kept in reserve. The given schedule states a sailing time of 5 minutes and the sailing times from the opposite side at Prästö are 5 to 7 minutes later. I haven't found a note that both ferries are orerated at the same time. So whenever you address the Töftö ferry you probably get the one on duty I think.

Hi Manfred,
many thanks for your answer. The seems reasonable - but it's an interesting (and expensive) approach to guarantee the reliability of an "important" cable ferry service: Just take two cable ferries into services - Kind regards Marc
