I don't think she was a buoy tender, but I do think she is a cargo/passenger ship. I also thought that the IMO number was too high for such an old ship. But the details (ship type, IMO number & data) are all the same on the usual websites (marinetraffic.com, balticshipping.com, vesseltracking.net & so on) and also on https://www.whatshipru.com/RMasteropt3.php, which gives a scrapping date of 1986. My guess is that she was on a regular run carrying both cargo & passengers between Cochin & the Laccadive Islands, lying to the west of Cochin, but I can't find any evidence for this

This IMO with the first number 8 very strange for a ship built 1965 !!!
