Moin Simon. Nice shot. She is fully loaded. Seems to be water enough in the river. Best wishes from Büdelsdorf to Meppen,Volker

Many thanks Volker für your nice comment.

On the Dortmund-Ems Canal (DEK) and the Küsten Canal, there are currently significantly more cargo ships on the move than usual. These waterways do not have to contend with low water like on the Rhine or the Weser.
About 30 cargo ships per day are currently being handled at the locks in Emsland. "That's about twice as much as usual".
In Emsland, the weirs and locks ensure that the canal is always navigable for ships with a draft of up to 2.70 meters. Since the Weser also has hardly any water left, more and more cargo ships are additionally pushing into the DEK from the east.
Your further tour goes via Emden and the Dollart to Delfzijl. From there, it goes via the Dutch canals and the Ijsselmeer to its destination port in Rotterdam. This is a detour of 250 kilometers, for which the inland vessels needed around two days.

I am really lucky at the moment that there are so many ships sailing here.

Greetings from Meppen sends Simon
