Description:

Just 2 of the numerous sets of daily barge traffic in the Chao Phraya river, it seems the pilots must have a good understanding with the barge traffic which must be between 50,000 to 100,000 tonnes per day, at times it seems like there is hardly enough room for ships to pass.

Yes, interesting to still see barges towed like this instead of pushed, and sometimes with tiny ancient tugs. It is quite surprising there are no collisions. I assume they are all going out to (or coming back from in this case) the Koh Sichang anchorage, usually with rice or tapioca. I once took a trip to Koh Sichang, which was very interesting and not at all touristy, on a little wooden ferry from the pier at Sriracha, home of the much mispronounced hot sauce!
