Description:

A grainy and not so good photo of 1963-built ADABELLE LYKES, photographed at East London roads, South Africa in 1974.
This C3-S type cargoliner is one of many that Lykes Lines built at the now defunct Bethlehem Steel Yard at Sparrows Point, Md. in the first half of the 60'.
In 1984 she was transferred to the U.S. Government (MARAD), and in 1986 she was renamed CAPE CHALMERS.
As far as I have found out, she was placed in the reserve fleet, but has also been used as training ship at Charleston.
