Stena IceMAX is the world’s only 6th Generation Ice-Class Harsh Environment dual-activity dynamically positioned (DP3) drillship, capable of drilling in water depths up to 10,000ft. Specifically designed to operate in the harshest of environments, the Stena IceMAX features high levels of winterisation protection, as well as a double hull for structural integrity.
Vessel arrived the previous day, 30/03/2023, from offshore Gabon, on completion of a circa 90 day, two well contract for the China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
The vessel underwent an eighteen day layover at Las Palmas for maintenance and testing, then sailed for offshore Newfoundland, to commence a new contract for the BP Canada Group.
The contract is for a one well programme, and has an estimated duration of 80 days.
Keel laid on 13/12/2010, launched on 16/03/2011 and completed on 16/04/2012 by Samsung, Koje, South Korea (1755)
58,295 g.t. and 55,000 dwt., launched as:
'Stena Drillmax Ice', completed as:
'Stena Icemax'.
