Description:
Hunting & Son of Newcastle's 1958 Lithgows, Port Glasgow, built ore carrier DALHANNA arriving at Cardiff exactly fifty years ago today, on 13th May 1973.
Following a subsequent voyage to Newport and a final voyage from Point Central in Mauritania, in the north west of Africa, to the Tyne, where she arrived on 30 June 1973, she was sold to Stavros Daifas of Greece. As SILVER ISLAND, she sailed from Porsgrunn on 20 July 1973 bound for Kirkenes in the extreme northeastern part of Norway on the Bøkfjord, a branch of the Varangerfjord, near the Russian border.
Later: mid 1981: AMALIA (Union Commercial Steamship Co. - Mark Scufalos of Piraeus)
Laid up in Piraeus district from 20 October 1981 - scrapped at Gadani Beach, arriving there on 16 April 1983
