Description:
The Greek steamship IOANNA (2873grt/1926) with a timber cargo in Victoria Dock, Hull, on 29 August 1964 . An early heavy-lift ship built at Newcastle by Armstrong Whitworth for Christen Smith of Oslo as BELNOR for carrying railway equipment etc, for loading/unloading with her own special derricks. She became IOANNA in 1959 and sank, after an engine-room explosion, off Arzew on 22 September 1966. (scanned slide)
