WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
Transocean Winner aground at Dalmore in the Isle of Lewis, after the tug that was towing it to the breakers' yard in Turkey lost the tow in a gale. Three heavy-duty tugs were required to pull it off the rocks. The rig was pulled to Broad Bay, north of Stornoway, overnight. There, it was prepped for transport on the back of a heavy-duty lifting vessel (Hawk), which finally took it to Blowtorch Beach in Turkey two months after the stranding. We in Lewis call it the Transocean Loser.
