As of today, the car ferry is operating again on the Maassluis - Rozenburg crossing.

The reliability of the service will probbly be increased because the service is now operated by Damen, who also supervised the repairs. A tender for a new ferry is still not ready, let alone the specs, so the Blankenburg has to be kept in service for at least let's say two more years. The ship only operates during the day, after six or so the current little ship will be employed.

There is a factual error there, the scheduled opening of the Blankenburg (as we still call it) tunnel (motor vehicles only) has always been 2024. The problem is that there is a delay in the tendering procedure for the new (smaller) ferry that has to replace the two car ferries that would be phased out after the opening. Both ships suffered serious technical problems and are in need of major repairs, which the operating company could not( or was not prepared) to pay for. So both went out of service last year. As a "solution" to the problems the operator filed for bankruptcy for this specific ferry service (conveniently operated by a separate affiliate company), not affecting the main company. Now the province of Zuid Holland, who is responsible for issuing the permit to operate the service has to urgently act to keep the service operational in one way or another and also to start the (European) tendering procedure for a new "slow traffic" ferry, which will replace the old ones. (Perhaps it is wise to also look for a back-up facility in case of regular maintenance and/or other problems with the new ship) Damen will shortly start operating one of their Aquabusses on the service, for an as yet undetermined period.

As a regular user of the ferry I can confirm that the situation is a "mess".

Two factual errors in your text: 1) On June 19, 2017, the municipality of Vlaardingen, on whose territory the tunnel is being built, adopted the name Maasdeltatunnel. 2) Due to procedural planning and regulatory issues, construction was delayed for two years. Source: Wikipedia and Rijkswaterstaat.

Planning took more years, not the building...the people of Rozenburg, on whose territory the tunnel is being built call it the Blankenburg tunnel..... named after the little village that was sacrificed for the port development of the Botlek area.
It may also be of interest that the Blue Amigo operator started their services well after the preparation work for the construction had begun. So any delay in the tunnel construction has nothing to do with the malfunctioning of the operator.

.....because the company filed for bankruptcy and the new Maasdelta-tunnel (until 2017 called Blankenburg-tunnel) is scheduled to open in 2024 (after a two year delay).
