Description:

Greek refr. fish carrier EVANGELISTRIA V is here seen laid up at Oristano, Sardinia in June 1991.
She was built 1947 at Lidingö, Sweden as VATNAJØKULL for Icelandic owners, and was sold to Greece in 1964.

She had arrived at Oristano earlier in 1981 with steering gear problems, and was laid up.
Seems like she was laid up for a long time, some sources said she was moved to Cagliari for further lay-up.
Finally, in 2004, she was removed (maybe for scrapping?).

Many thanks for posting this most interesting photo, Arnes. Despite being nominally owned by "Atlantic Fishing Enterprise Evangelistris S.A.", and its beneficial owner George E.Arcoulis of Piraeus for a time owning three trawlers with Evangelistria names, it would seem likely that EVANGELISTRIA V was also employed in general cargo trades. Miramar website categorises her as a general cargo ship with refrigerated space. Best regards. Malcolm Cranfield
