As a photo of the ALVEI has just resurfaced in the comments section, I thought I should post this view of her. Here she is at one of the piers in front of Centraal Station, Amsterdam on the 4th July 1987 before her conversion to a sailing vessel. (I have put her in the sailing vessel category to keep this with other photos of her.) She had ALVEI on her stern with Oceana as her port of registry! I asked one of the people on board where that was, and was told, "It's kind of all the oceans together...", so that was my geography update for the day.
On the back of the photo I have noted, "Former Scottish herring drifter. Steel. b.1920. 103 grt. Bought in Norway. Sailed to Madeira. Converted over 8 year period to topsail schooner. Now based in Pacific Islands. See www.alvei.com "
