The Mersey Bluff Lighthouse is located on top of the Mersey Bluff, a headland of dolerite volcanic rock on the western side of the mouth of the Mersey River in Devonport, Tasmania.
Construction on the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse began on October 16, 1888 and was completed on May 28, 1889. The lighthouse is constructed of bricks, has an overall tower height of 16 metres and is elevated to a height of 37 metres.
A unique feature of the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse is its distinctive daymark of 4 vertical red stripes - unusual for lighthouses in Australia.
