I checked all the Somalia flagged fleet built 1950-1965 / 7000-10000gt ;-))

Yes Adrian, it seems that ANTARCTICA was always British (Hong Kong) flagged.
In that era, many PRC owned ships were registered in Somalia, probably due to political connections between the two nations.

I agree Manfred, well done. On 23rd May 1970, ANTARCTICA would have been bound for Liverpool to load out for China. She was soon transferred to her beneficial owner, the People's Republic of China, renamed NAN XIANG. It seems that she was rarely photographed. Best regards. Malcolm

Could well be, Manfred, The Fotoflite shot dates from 1966, for years earlier than this one, so there was enough time for a full repaint. The Vancouver Archives have a Frost shot of her as Older, obviously an Odfjell ship, which shows her more en profile.
