The Paleocrassas family, from Stenies on Andros Island, ship owners since the 1860s, were closely linked with Syros Shipping Company (L.M.Valmas & Son) with a collaboration focused on the commercial side of shipping management, such as chartering, insurance and the buying and selling of vessels. Among the ships owned by Paleocrassas, were the IRINI, IRIS and PALMIS

Here, the 1958 Dundee built IRINI is here seen arriving at Avonmouth exactly fifty years ago today, on 27th August 1973, when on charter to Elder Dempster Lines.

IRINI was laid up at Stylis from 24th June 1982 until departing as SPIRIT for Gadani Beach, where she arrived on 8th June 1984 for breaking.
