Description:

B.P.Clyde Tanker Company's 1950 Cammell Laird, Birkenhead, built CLYDE INVENTOR had passed Portishead on 9th September 1963 during a call at Avonmouth. Here, she is seen at Cardiff in June 1961.

Nigel Jones comments as follows: "CLYDE INVENTOR is in what was known as "The Drain", opposite the three Pierhead drydocks, adjacent to the Bute Drydock. She is displaying "without engines" balls above the bridge but most unusually her bow ropes appear to be attached to a buoy. As some of the crew can be seen, I assume that she was either waiting to enter one of the Pierhead drydocks or to enter the Roath Basin (looks like Tay or similar near the gates) for subsequent tank cleaning at the Roath Dock facilities."
