Now on its way to Ushuaia to begin 2023-24 cruise season in Antarctica. Other cruise lines en route or already there (i.e. Viking/Hurtigruten, etc). There are reports of first cases ever of bird flu detected in seabirds in Antarctica. Scientists have found an unusual strain of bird flu among penguins in Antarctica and there is fear that it could spread rapidly among the various penguin populations. One might wonder what impact (if any), that will have on the cruise season that typically extends over the next 5 months....?
