There was an earlier Ben-My-Chree, also a ferry, which was taken over by the Royal Navy in 1915 and converted into one of the very first "aircraft carriers" (actually a seaplane carrier). The Royal Navy operated her under the name "HMS Ben-My-Chree". She had a very successful career until she was sunk in the Aegean when the captain was ordered to take her into port too close to Turkish shore batteries, something which the ship never should have done. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Ben-my-Chree
