Description:

Dutch tanker MAASBREE is here photographed at Khor al Amaya, Iraq, in October 1977 while awaiting loading.
This VLCC was built by IHI, Kure, and delivered in March 1973 as Panama-registered SINDE for an affiliate of Safmarine.
Just four months later she was sold to the Netherlands, and renamed MAASBREE.

In January 1982 she arrived at Loch Striven, Scotland for lay-up. In 1985 she was sold to breakers on Taiwan, only 12 years old, of which 9 years in active service. The vessel arrived at Kaohsiung 3/8-1985. For delivery voyage from Loch Striven to Kaohsiung, she had been transferred to Cyprus flag, and name was shortened to MAAS.
