This tanker was built 1961 by Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, Mass. for Victory Carriers Inc, and was of 50 019 t.dw.
Victory Carriers was a company which was set up and owned by the Greek shipowner Aristotle Onassis.

On 31/5-1981 MONTICELLO VICTORY sustained large damages in an explosion while at Port Arthur, Tx. Thereafter she was laid up at Tampa until 8/1-1984, when she arrived at Brownsville, Tx. for demolition.
