Description:
Derelict fishing vessel seen along the shore of the slough behind Lord Island on the Columbia River near Rainier, Oregon.
Originally built for the US Coast Guard as the lighthouse tender BLUEBONNET (WAGL 257), the vessel was decommissioned and sold to commercial interests in the mid-sixties, then converted into a fishing vessel. Since circa 2001, the vessel had been out of service, eventually being left abandoned where photographed. Shortly after my photo, the vessel sank, and was later removed and demolished in October 2023.
