Description:
Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT)'s 1947 St.Nazaire built WINNIPEG passing Hoek van Holland on the morning of 29th May 1975 inbound for Rotterdam during a round voyage from Fort de France (Martinique) via Dunkirk. She was laid down as Hapag`s MANNHEIM in 1943 and taken over by France in 1945.
Later: 1975 LAMBROS L.
Following an aborted voyage from Buenos Aires to Lattakia via Cartagena of soybeans she sailed to Limassol to await orders. On about 9th March 1977, she departed from Limassol for Kilada (Spetses Island) but suffered a fire in her cargo and was next reported putting into Porto Heli Harbour in Portocheli, Peleponnese, Greece, on 24th February 1978. Although reported to have been sold to Taiwan breakers, she was beached near Piraeus on 24th March 1983 for breaking.
Other vessels in the fleet of World Tide Shipping Corporation, the former Sea Ship Nav. Corp. owned by T.D.Baglantzis, were also abandoned in the 1970s.
