The Lowlands Hope is the first vessel to call the Port of Trois-Rivières in 2024. It docked at the Port on January 2 at 3:42 am, after a seventeen-day crossing of the Atlantic.

The vessel, with its 21 crew members of Indian and Philippine nationalities, left the port of Sao Luis in Brasil on December 16, 2023. The alumina cargo, unloaded by Somavrac, is destined for the Alcoa – Deschambault smelter for its aluminum production.

During the 58th ceremony marking the arrival of the first vessel of the year at the Port of Trois-Rivières, Captain Nalini Kanta Das and Chief Engineer Ankit Shukla, received baskets of local products and a giclée reproduction Un port, une équipe created by Caroline St-Pierre, an artist from the Mauricie region.
