WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
This image was formerly posed as a mystery ship - the ship on the left side - and, whether it was at Port Said or Alexandria, these have now been resolved.
Circa 1964-1969, Alexandria, Egypt.
The photo was taken from a passing Danish ship, possibly a DFDS cargo ship.
Three ships in this view, left to right:
1) Now expertly identified by Manfred, as the London Greek company Michalinos & Co. Ltd.'s 'Riverdore' - IMO 5297220
(A 5 cargo hatch, *unidentified* cargo ship, with black hull, red boot topping and a white line running forward to aft.
She has distinctive funnel colours: Black, with a broad light blue band and possibly letters in white thereon.)
2) Cunard's 'Caronia'- IMO 5064908
&
3) The United Arab Maritime Co's 'Algazayer' - IMO 5010804 or 'Syria' - IMO 5347520.
Scanned from a slide.
From the collection of the late Niels Anker Larsen, former Danish Merchant Navy Radio Officer.

COMMENT THIS PHOTO(2)
the silhouette says RIVERDORE, IMO 5297220, the funnel colours might be a charterers. (Her sister LORADORE is different):

Then there is also CASTLEDORE, but different too.
The location is Alexandria, Egypt.

I have studied many images of the Riverdore and can only agree with your conclusion.
Regarding the blue funnel band (instead of the usual Michalinos' red band), the more I look at the full size image, the more I can see a distinctive white 'M' on the blue band! As you say, probably a charter.
Much appreciated, as always.
