Description:

Circa 1963-1969, Molo Giano (Giano Repair Wharf), Port of Genova (Genoa), Italy.

The crude oil tanker undergoing repairs is the:
'George F. Getty' - IMO 5128687

Launched on 08/07/1956, and completed during January 1957 by Chantiers D'Alantique, St. Nazaire, France (B17)
33,704 g.t. & 57,145 dwt., as:
'George F. Getty', until sold to Taiwan for demolition.
Arrived at Kaohsiung on 16/05/1975.

To the right of the tanker is a beige coloured 'leading light' tower, used to guide ships into this harbour at night or in poor visibility.

Looking at Google maps, it seems to have been demolished, probably due to the fact that the entire area is now a marina.

Scanned from a slide.

From the collection of the late Niels Anker Larsen, former Danish Merchant Navy Radio Officer.
