Description:

Polish Ocean Lines' 1965 Gdynia built B41 type STANISLAW DUBOIS outbound from Brunsbüttel locks on the morning of 22nd June 1975 during a voyage from Gdynia to Haiphong.

On 2nd April 1981, during a voyage from Gdansk to Surabaya, STANISLAW DUBOIS was in collision with OMDURMAN off Texel and was scuttled on 9th April 1981.

Stanislaw Dubois ; General cargo ship (B41/i/4) built at the Paris Commune Shipyard in Gdynia, commissioned by PLO (POLISH OCEAN LINES Gdynia). Launch: August 29, 1964, handover to the shipowner on April 30, 1965, inaugural voyage to the ports of the Bay of Bengal began on May 6, 1965. On April 2, 1981, while traveling from Gdańsk to Surabaya, the ship collided with the Sudanese ship OMDURMAN and was very seriously damaged. The accident occurred in the North Sea, near the island of Texel. The Polish ship was carrying (among other things) 1,000 tons of carbide. There was a very serious risk of explosion. Water entered the hold. In combination with carbide, acetylene is formed, the lower explosion limit of which is approximately 2.5%. The PLO management, after consulting with experts, decided to sink the ship.home port Rotterdam) to the high seas and sunk by opening the sea valves.
