Taken over in 1979 from the troubled Karageorgis fleet and built by Wartsila in 1977 (#1224) the Gerd Maersk is shown here in the Sixth Petroleum dock, a picture taken in the early eighties when the then new Maasvlakte was still accessible for photographers before the container terminals became operational.
The ship was renamed Maersk Gannet in 1987, and in 2002 the Maersk prefix disappeared and she became Gannet. Renamed Phoenix in 2007 and then finally broken up at Alang during 2010.
